Philatelistische Studie zur Entwicklung der Gebühren für den Versand von Blindensendungen im In- und Ausland / Philatelic study on the development of fees for mail for the blind domestic and abroad

This website attempts to document the development of tariffs for international mail for the blind with the help of corresponding documents. Despite intensive research, it has not yet been possible to obtain a complete overview of charges for all the countries listed here. If you as a reader can provide additions or corrections, please contact me. Thank you!

The letters shown are all from my collection.

What is certainly striking are the numerous covers from the 1980s, always with the same address, School for the Blind in Soest. As a teacher at this school for the blind, I carried out several projects with my pupils, which always involved writing letters in Braille (postage free) worldwide, usually to foreign organisations for the blind, with a request for a reply, which almost always worked. The pupils really enjoyed this and at the same time learnt how to write letters to blind people. So the motivation was very high in two respects! My pupils then allowed me to take over these reply letters and ultimately add them to my collection.
