Vorläufer-Blindenbrief aus Nürnberg, Bayern an den Direktor der Königlichen Blindenanstalt in Steglitz vom 19.10.1891, portorichtig frankiert mit 3 Pf Bayern

Bis zur Einführung der Versendungsart Blindensendung am 1.1.1913 wurden Blindenbriefe wie Drucksachen behandelt; im Fernverkehr mussten die Briefe bis 50 g mit 3 Pf Bayern frankiert werden.

Im UPU-Rundschreiben vom 12.11.1906 wurde die Möglichkeit, Blindensendungen in Bayern und Deutschland als Drucksachen zu versenden, offiziell bestätigt, obwohl dies bereits seit dem 01.04.1886 möglich war. Ein spezieller Tarif für Blindensendungen wurde bereits am 01.01.1913 eingeführt.

The UPU Circular of 12.11.1906 stated officially the possibility to send mail for the blind in Bavaria and Germany as printed matter although this was already possible since 01.04.1886. A special tariff for mail for the blind was already introduced on 01.01.1913.

Orts-Blindensendung vom 31.12.1885 auf Reichspostkarte mit Poststempel Berlin-Ostbahnhof. Der Schreiber wünscht dem Adressaten alles Gute zum Neuen Jahr!

Laut Verfügung vom 30.08.1886 war es erlaubt, Postkarten der Reichspost mit Blindenschrift bedruckt zu verschicken.  Der Schreiber dieser Karte war seiner Zeit voraus!

A 5 Pf official postcard (stationary) written in Braille from Berlin to Berlin SO dated 31.12.1885, cancel Berlin O No 84 Ostbahnhof (Eastern Station). The writer wishes the addressee a happy New Year!

According to the regulation of August 30, 1886, it was allowed to send postcards of the Reichspost written in Braille. The writer of this card was ahead of his time!

Blindensendung auf 5 Pf Reichspostkarte vom 20.08.1886 aus Steglitz nach Warnemünde. In (Berlin-)Steglitz wurde die erste Blindenschule in Deutschland gegründet und 1806 eröffnet. Laut Archiv der noch heute bestehenden Schule war der Schreiber dieser Karte von 1885 bis 1893 Schüler der Steglitzer Blindenschule.

A 5 Pf official postcard (stationary) written in Braille from Steglitz dated 20.08.1886 to Warnemünde. The first school for the blind in Germany was founded in (Berlin-) Steglitz and opened in 1806. According to the archive of the school that still exists today, the writer of this card was a pupil of the Steglitz school for the blind from 1885 to 1893.
